Meet Sheryl, mother of 2 young kids, who attended the latest Eat Healthy – Lose Weight program. Read about her progress during the 6 sessions, and her reason for joining the course in the first place.

A few weeks after the program was completed, I put these questions to Sheryl:

Why did you sign up for the Eat Healthy – Lose Weight Program?

Despite exercising 4 to 5 times a week, and seemingly eating fairly healthy, I struggled to lose the last 5kgs of post-baby weight which I gained after having two kids …. my youngest is 2.5 years old.

What are the 3 things you wanted to achieve?

1. How to lose weight in a healthy way
2. How to actually keep the weight off and
3. To adopt a healthier approach to food

What have you achieved by the end of the 6 sessions?

I lost 1.5 kg (despite going for a holiday for a week in between) from watching my portions and only to eat when I’m actually hungry and not when I was bored.

What have you learned the program?

So much!  The things that spring to my mind were how to choose a good quality oil; coming from Southeast Asia, we do a lot of stir fries so this was very important to me.  Liza gave us tips on how to deal with sugar cravings (very useful given I have somewhat of a sweet tooth).

What are the top 3 habits you developed, which you will continue over the summer in order to stay healthy?

1) Maintaining the food journal we were given the first session. I find it helps when I record down what I eat
2) Healthier snacking – I now keep healthier options around the house if I have the need to snack
3) Choosing healthier options when eating out

Any advice to those considering taking the Eat Healthy-Lose Weight Program?

Look at it as an investment for your wellbeing and that of your family, you won’t regret it 🙂
As a mom, it’s so important to find the time to take care of yourself, so that you feel and look better about who and what you are. We spend so much time giving to others – our kids, our partner, our work – and often our health is put down the priority list, which really should never be the case. As we learn to take better care of ourselves, then our children, our partner and others benefit by default. Like Sheryl found a way to invest and improve her habits, make the time to do the same. It’s the least you deserve…and it’s win-win for all involved.
